OAE's - Trying to find....
This used to be spread out across all the OAE pages, but as the people "trying to find..." weren't always sure of which base or ship the person they were seeking had been on, it made more sense to put them all on one page, so we'll see how it goes.

Capt. William Dickey.....Bill and also Willy to family Base or ship McMurdo was one of the places he mentioned, 1956 Capt. Willie Dickie was my 2nd cousin. I know I was about 6 or 7 when we met and he was in to visit his mother, my gt Aunt Cora in Rusk, Texas. I recall he said he lived under the ice. I was sort of scared of his beard initially. Would really like to learn more about his work there. He married a Swedish girl named Inge. He sent my momma ham-grams, which I have inherited. Can you help me? I also know he went to Annapolis. He was a bit older than my mother and she was born in 1921. His mother and my maternal gr mother were sisters so that is how we were related. His mother was Cora Mae Sutton and my gr mother was Annie Virginia Sutton. He had 2 brothers...Edmond and G.W. Dickey. Any help is appreciated. Trying to record some family history.. I have a picture of Willie from about 1957 where he dressed a penguin in a sailor suit. It was published in the WASHINGTON POST but his last name was mis-spelled. Thank you in advance, Lufkin USA - email - June '21

Trying to find pictures of my dad Tom Gamble. He was a C-130 Pilot for VXE-6 from 70-74. He's passed on and any pictures would mean the world. Thanks! Little Rock AR- Mar '19
I am attempting to find a Seabee who went by the name of Red. I believe his name to be Marvin Fowler and he was stationed on the ice in 1962. The unit that he was in did their shore leave in Dunedin. I was able to glean some information a number of years ago from a Naval Historian in Port Hannabe California but was unable to trace him. I came across the CoolAntarctica website and though it may be worth reaching out to some to the participants and men that were stationed there to see if anyone knew of him or his whereabouts. Any further suggestions as to how to move forward with my search would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Deidre Smith, Hastings New Zealand - Apr '18

My dad,
Clifford Eugene Baker,
was in Antarctica as part of
Operation Deep Freeze III (57-58).
Baker Ridge is named after him. Is there anyone around who could
explain how or why that came to be? He recently passed away
and we've (my husband and I) learned more about Operation Deep
Freeze more in the time since than we ever did while he was
alive. We have a lot of pictures we would like to share with
those who are interested. We also have at least one other question.
He had a stein with the Operation Deep Freeze Puckered Penguin
logo and near the rim of the stein was the word Tanodi.
He also had a tattoo with the word Tanodi. We've googled that
word/name and found no USN reference to it. Was this by chance
his nickname? Cheryl Dellinger

I have a
silver coin from operation
deep freeze 1957- 1958 with three initials on
it between the USN and IGY on the coin. Would any one have a
manifest of the people who were there at that time? Thanks,

Trying to find...
To use this option, fill in the registration form,
but include your own name and email as a contact, you must also
include your own name, and a brief description of why
you want the contact, this will make it more likely
that you are contacted, requests kept online approx. 3
years, maybe more.
Please note: Personnel listed on this
site are self-submitted. If someone doesn't send in their details,
then they don't go up. I don't have any lists of personnel to
compare submissions to, so am not aware of who was in Antarctica
and hasn't sent in their current contact details.
People
who go to work in Antarctica are sent by a large number of different
agencies and there is not a single source to access for such
records. If looking, then you need to know which part of the
Antarctic programme the person you are looking for worked for
to search official records, was he crew on a ship? did he work
for the navy as part of VXE-6? was he a scientist?, did he work
for a US or NZ civilian support agency or company? etc.
